Texas Multi-Chem (TMC) helped Levelland prepare for the week long tournament by renovating their baseball turf. All twenty-six games will be played over the seven day span at Lobo Field, Levelland's high school baseball stadium.

With this many games over such a short period of time, TMC was called in to help Lobo Field withstand the additional stress of a 26-game baseball tournament in the hottest part of the year.

Lobo Field Renovation

The baseball field renovation included:

  • Rebuilt home plate circle

  • Rebuilt pitcher's mound

  • Infield lip removal

  • New base pedestals

  • Improved infield skinned area soil material (adding and tilling in extra material)

  • Regrade infield skinned area to ensure smoothness and uniformity

  • Infield baseline and arc improvements

Infield Lip Repair

Over time the back of the infield had developed some minor lips as a result of the skinned area soil material being pushed toward the outfield. The TMC power rake was used to get rid of the infield lips by removing the excess material from the back arch.

Fortify Pitcher's Mound and Home Plate Area

With twenty-six games being played on Lobo Field in one week, that means a lot more activity on the pitching mound and at home plate. To help withstand this amount of additional baseball field wear and tear, TMC dug out both the pitcher's mound and batter's boxes and installed a new set of unfired clay bricks beneath the surface. The clay bricks will help reinforce the high traffic areas on the pitching mound and home plate. A new pitcher's rubber and home plate were also installed in preparation for the tournament.

Repair Infield Worn Areas

Both at first and third base, the grass edge was worn out and thinning from the summer's usual baseball activity. The lines were improved at first and third base by cutting an additional line along the grass edges. The same thing was done at the front edge of the pitcher's mound. These minor changes significantly improved the aesthetics of the field.

Sod Cut Infield Lines

The baselines were also manicured at Lobo Field as the grass had encroached a bit on the infield skinned area throughout the season.

Texas Multi-Chem appreciates the opportunity to help Levelland host the 2010 Babe Ruth World Series! Good luck to each of the teams! Let's Play Ball!
